Statement of Solidarity and Forum for a Better Future
The Alliance for Diversity in Science and Engineering aims to increase the participation of underrepresented groups in academia, industry, and government. We strive to do this by fostering an inclusive network where scientists from all backgrounds can come together to support one another. George Floyd’s murder in Minnesota has again reminded us that supporting one another and standing up for equality is more important than ever. Our alliance stands in support of all people who have been and continue to be disenfranchised. We believe in unequivocal rights for all and we denounce the engrained imbalance and abuse of power that exists in our society. We stand together with our members, the protestors, and for a better future in science and society. We recently created a virtual safe space for members to contribute to the future directions of ADSE. There will be one such ADSE Town Hall meeting this Tuesday, June 2nd, at 1pm EDT; we intend to extend the scope of the discussions to include current events and we are always here to listen.
